Who are we?

The Caisse Out of Crimes in Palestine campaign is organized by the Coalition du Québec URGENCE Palestine.

The Coalition was formed in February 2024 to express Québec civil society’s outrage at the genocide being perpetrated by Israel in Gaza, and to support the Palestinian struggle against the occupation and colonization of Palestine.

It includes 50 unions, community organizations and civic groups from across Québec.

November 23rd 2023

Seven experts in international law publish an open letter demanding that CDPQ comply with international law.

February 26th 2024

The Coalition du Québec URGENCE Palestine is formed.

April 15th 2024

One of the signers of the open letter meets with Marc-André Blanchard, Senior Vice-President and Head of CDPQ Global and Global Head of Sustainable Investment.

April 21st 2024

Just Peace Advocates publishes a report revealing that CDPQ has $14.2 billion in holdings in 87 companies complicit in crimes in Palestine (as of December 31, 2023).

May 21st 2024

After CDPQ fails to act, seven experts in international law publish a second open letter calling on CDPQ to divest.

June 22nd 2024

The Divest for Palestine Collective sets up the Al-Sumud People’s Encampment in Montréal’s Square Victoria to demand immediate divestment by CDPQ.

July 3rd 2024

The Coalition sends a letter to CDPQ supporting the encampment’s demands and requesting a meeting.

July 18th 2024

The Coalition receives an official response from CDPQ that fails to acknowledge its role in violations of international law.

July 25th 2024

Palestinian and Jewish Unity, Independent Jewish Voices – Montréal and the Divest for Palestine Collective organize a day of action in front of CDPQ’s head office in Montréal.

August 7th 2024

The Coalition meets with Catherine Simard, Managing Director, Sustainable Investing, and Karine Poirier, Director of Public Affairs at CDPQ. The following day, the Coalition holds a press conference to denounce CDPQ’s silence and inaction.

November 9th 2024

A hundred people attend a meeting on CDPQ’s investments, organized by the Divest for Palestine Collective.

November 30th 2024

The Coalition files a brief on CDPQ's investments in response to the appeal by United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, Me Francesca Albanese.

December 9th 2024

The Coalition sends CDPQ a second letter, La CDPQ doit cesser d’être complice des crimes d’Israël contre le peuple palestinien, signed by 169 Québec civil society organizations.

March 17th 2025

The Coalition launches the Caisse Out of Crimes in Palestine campaign.
